Sometimes a situation calls for a single design solution, while at other times a clever idea can spawn
a whole set of unique and innovative furniture designs. AK47 Design has chosen an unlikely subject – firewood storage – to be the basis of an incredible series of design ideas.
While these fireside wood racks show a remarkable diversity in character, form and function they are all also very elegant and versatile – one could imagine them in anything from a traditional rustic to modern minimalist interior design context.
Their choice of firewood holders as a design subject was not arbitrary, but rather an intentional attempt to address the redesign of an elemental part of traditional homes that is often ignored by industrial designers.
While some of these may be shown in situations and have functions we might find it hard to imagine using them in or for, they certainly provide an incredible range of options for anyone with a fireplace or wood-burning stove.
